Cats Meow | The Perfect Cat Eye sunnies

When I first my husband we were both 15 years old. We were shy at first, him more then me, but through his shyness I remember that he would hug me and meow in my ear… weird? Yes. Did I fall for this? Of course! It was like some how he already knew about my irrational love for cats. I am not confirming now denying that I value my cat’s life more then some (most?) humans… But this is beside the point (or is it?), I, like many others I’m sure, am in tune with my inner feline and I love to let my inner feline out by enjoying a cat eye line when I am in a fierce mood. Or better yet throw on my favorite (and absolutely lucky) pair of cat eye sunnies.

No matter what shape of sunglass is your favorite I urge you to find the perfect shape of cat eye sunglasses to complement that beautiful head of yours. Here are some pics to encourage you further. But first I want to help you with a few tips on how to find that perfect cat eye frame for your face.

·      If you have an Oval (balanced forehead cheeks and chin) or Heart Shaped face (narrow chin and balanced cheeks and forehead) then you’re in good shape to try any frame of cat eyes. They will all complement you very well. If I were you I would go with a super sleek pointed cat eye. Not everyone can pull it off but you can and you should!

·      If you have an Oblong face or a square face then go for the rounder cat eyes. Nothing too angular (especially for you, square heads).

·      If you have a round face (accentuated cheeks and narrow forehead and chin) then avoid the round shape and go for something more rectangular.

Here are those inspiration photos I promised (by the way, all of the sunnies pictured above can be found on ASOS.com)

T- Time

Ok so I am not talking about a day at the golf course, but rather a day in a T-shirt. And I don’t mean the day that you spend doing laundry and running errands. Think instead of a day in a chic yet comfortable outfit that you can wear to the office or out on a date. It's the perfect way of working that I-hardly-tried-to-look-this-good vibe. And don't pretend like you don't know all about this vibe.

You know when you see that girl on the street with the tousled hair and barely there makeup, the outfit that seems like she threw it together in 5 minutes, yet she looks like a THE fashion goddess, the latest IT model and the muse of the century that Karl Lagerfeld is publishing a book about? Yeah I hate her too but I also want to be her! Let's be real and give ourselves a break. In reality it took her 1.5 to 2 hours to pull that hardly-tried look together. If she can do it so can we Damn IT! Lets do it together. I am in love with finding new ways to dress up my old t-shirts.

Here are some simple rules to consider when beginning the construction of a perfectly dressed up t-shirt ensemble.

1.     Heels make a big difference.
2.     Consider how an up-do will change the look.
3.     Don’t be afraid to layer.
4.     Try on some of your chunkier jewels and see what it will do for the overall look.
5.     I know jeans come to mind but try a skirt instead. How about trousers?

I am going to put a few outfits together to show you what I mean, but first here are some great street style pics to pull inspiration from.

Sweater Time

One of my favorite trends right now is so perfect for those of us who never want to leave the warmth of our most comfy pullover. It is becoming very popular and seen on many of our favorite street stylists, chic celebs and magazine editors. Like most trends there is a right way of executing this look and a wrong way. Here are a few awe-inspiring tips to get you started

As one who loves wearing oversized everything, I find that I have to balance this look out by paring it with a less bulky bottom. Don’t feel shy about layering. See how rolling the sleeves a bit, changes the look. How about if you belt it? Can you tuck it in? Try these things and see how you can add your own flair to this cozy trend. Here are some outfit inspiration tips to get you started

1.     If you’re lucky enough to be in a place that gets cold enough to layer, then throw on a biker jacket over that cute graphic sweater. Pair this with a skinny jean or pant and some super sleek sandal heels or pumps.
2.     Feeling a little bit more feminine? Throw on your favorite pullover and finish it off with a pleated tea length skirt and booties.
3.     To dress up this look for work or even a fun night out with your man or girlfriends (or both?) switch it up with a pencil skirt just above the knee. Grab your favorite clutch and heels and your ready to impress with your styling skills.

I am going to put a few outfits together to show you what I mean, but first here are some great street style pics to get you excited.

Boom!!

I was so excited to wake up early and experience my first target-designer collaboration! I called my target location a day early to see what they were prepared for. Lucky for me (but also a part that left me feeling a little disappointed), there was no line. In fact there was only one other girl there shopping with me. Is this normal? Was I just a little too over zealous about the possibility of having to fight my way to the good stuff?

I'm so excited about my new Boom sweater and scarf. But next time I think I might pick a more risky location so I can push someone out of the way in order to reach that last must-have piece.

What did you get to add to your wardrobe? Send me pics of your purchase with perfectly styled ensembles.

Printuplets

Let us continue through this journey of inspiration that is derived from street style. Like I have said before, street style is just as important as runway shows when it comes to determining trends. Some would say that street style is even more crucial than following the runway shows. Lines have blurred when determining whether the streets get inspiration from the runways or the other way around.

This is exciting to me and should be to all you fashionistas! This means that the power we have in starting trends has become equal to the power if not greater then that of Marc Jacobs, Phillip Lim and Alexander Wang. YAY US!

The next trend is one that I have derived inspiration from to work into my own wardrobe. It is a tougher one to perfect because it could so easily become a little overwhelming.

P R I N T    O N    P R I N T

When trying this look, be adventurous. You can make the top and bottom the same print or you can mix different types of prints and still be successful. One tip that I would suggest is mixing a big print with a small print. Another way to make it work is by mixing a colorful print with monochromatic print. It will make it look more cohesive if you mix prints with at least one common color. Keep the accessories simple. If you have a monochromatic print on print combo, throw in a colorful flat, heel or bag.

Have any questions about something you want to pair together? Tell me about it. Lets talk.

Here are some of the street style photos I collected that inspired me. (gathered from Pinterest). Below these awesome styles are some of my creations that you can love freely without having to hold your heart together. These looks are what I like to call Anti Ramen Ensembles…. Can you guess where I’m going with this? (An outfit you can afford while also affording good non-Ramen-Noodle food)
